Okay, Im rather a flower finatic. I have a dear friend in MN to blame for that. As a child I'd watch my mother plant petunias by the flag pole every summer. I also remember marigolds (which I have to admit I still hate) and snapdragons. I had NO interest!

Well, after many years of marriage and no real desire....we moved into our last house and I made a new friend. She wasn't much older than I and she had a wonderful old farm house. You know what else she had? Flowers. Perenials. Lots and Lots of perenials. And you know what else? They were beautiful. I listened as she rattled off the names of literally dozens of flowers and told me what they did, how they grew, what color they were...and I was just in awe! I loved it! So....Martha helped me get started. She divided some of her precious plants and hauled them over to the house.... I made some beds right away....by the end of the summer I had visited many greenhouses and had learned leaf shapes, flower types, shade/sun plants, wet/dry soil conditions, you name it...I loved it all.

That was 5 years ago. I still have a passion for flowers. I love to garden. I buy more each year, tear up old, move things around, add a bed here and there. I just love flowers. As far as favorites go...so hard. I'll be posting and writing some more later...regarding favorites and other gardening things. Posted by Picasa
