Saved $15 and made a memory...

My good friend over at Cartoon Living taught me the art of "cake decorating" last February when I visited her. This was my first attempt on my own, and while it "looked" like a soccer ball, now that I see the pictures, I realize that when it suggests 1 C Black icing and 3 C white Icing; its because they want you to use it all. I was afraid I was going to run out, so I skimped....hence the reason you can see the cake through the frosting. But....it was a good learning experience and A LOT of fun to do. So I will definately do it again.

A couple suggestions if you've never done it before.
1. Don't wait until the night before to do it all (if at all possible) At least
make the cake ahead and have it cooled!
2. If you do wait to the night before. Start before 11 pm. (this will enable
you to get done before 4 am.)
3. Be liberal w/the frosting. I think I had 2/3 left of what it called for

All in all it was fun. And thanks to the local dollar tree, we walked in after church and got soccer balloons, napkins, straws and stickers. All w/soccer balls on them. Don'tcha love the Dollar Store for parties?

Hey, that looks FANTASTIC! I can't see much cake . . . so maybe not as bad as you thought. And you decided against the chocolate cake?

Great job!
