Stark Differences

As I went to my blog to post, I looked at the stark difference between the two most recent posts. One talking about my position in Christ--oh to get a glimpse of that...really. The other, talking about nothing. About a kitchen remodel that in the broad scheme of life, means nothing. 19 Boxes of Wood flooring, that one day will be torn down or burned up.

I have been so excited the past couple years at the thought of doing my kitchen. While there is nothing "wrong" with remodeling our kitchen--I've just been so challenged this week from the preaching of the Word all week at our church through God's messenger, Paul Washer. Oh to have a zeal, passion, excitement, desire for God that I believe I've had for my Kitchen. It's actually shameful. It is despicably shameful. Oh to have a zeal 100x that what I have for my kitchen. I think we in America are mistaken "glory givers" We give glory to anything and everything but God, without even knowing we are doing such a thing. (Im talking Christians here, friends and family)

What matters here on this earth? What matters in the very insignificant, 70+, potential years that I will live here? What of it will last? Only things done for Christ will last.
Period. End of Story.

"For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building. "According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building upon it. But let each man be careful how he builds upon it. "For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. "Now if any man builds upon the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, "Each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it, because it is to be revealed with fire; and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work." (I Cor. 3:9-13)

I will end with this poem.

Two little lines I heard one day,Traveling along life's busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart, And from my mind would not depart;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.
Only one life, yes only one, Soon will its fleeting hours be done;
Then, in 'that day' my Lord to meet, And stand before His Judgement seat;
Only one life,'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, the still small voice, Gently pleads for a better choice
Bidding me selfish aims to leave, And to God's holy will to cleave;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, a few brief years, Each with its burdens, hopes, and fears;
Each with its clays I must fulfill, living for self or in His will;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

When this bright world would tempt me sore, When Satan would a victory score;
When self would seek to have its way, Then help me Lord with joy to say;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

Give me Father, a purpose deep, In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;
Faithful and true what e'er the strife, Pleasing Thee in my daily life;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

Oh let my love with fervor burn, And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone, Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, "twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one, Now let me say,"Thy will be done";
And when at last I'll hear the call, I know I'll say "twas worth it all";
Only one life,'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.
