They also got to spend two days with Great-Grandma Margaret in Ankeny and see Uncle Kurt and his girlfriend.
After taking the guys to the airport, we came back home and finished up school
The DVD to purchase is called "A more perfect Union" The study guide that comes with it is VERY helpful. I ordered it last year and shelved it...forgetting about it. BIG MISTAKE. Im so glad we moved the room around which made me clean off my school shelves--b/c thats when I found it and said...hmmmmmmmm...I should watch this I suppose. To which we all were delighted at how well done it was and historically accurate (which oft times is hard to find)
I recommend it to everyone--homeschooling or not. It's just plain good information about the foundations of our Nation. (Okay, now that I got that plug in.... back to my story) After completing stuff at home...we went to Natalies favorite place....the mall. After spending plenty of time there....we went to Chili's for dinner and then to the University of Michigan for a terrific faculty music concert. The pianist, vocalist and trumpeter (is that what a person who plays the trumpet would be called?) were amazing.
Upon arriving home we popped in the movie version of Cyrano de Bergerac, a play, written in 1897, based on the life of the man w/the same name. It was the first movie the girls had ever watched in another language (French) with English subtitles. They found it tricky, but perservered as we are going to the dress rehersal the day before the World Premiere Opening of the Cyrano at the Detroit Opera House on October 12th!

We drove through the University of Michigan campus on our summer vacation. What a beautiful campus! My dad did his doctoral work there and I was born at the University Hospital.
What a small world! We live about 15-20 minutes from the University.
Karen,
How have your mornings been going?? Just wanted to encourage you to keep trying!
Also, I never got back with you about the rooms on campus. I think it's less than $70 for a suit room -- plenty big for all you guys. I will have to see for sure on the pricing.
See ya!
