Expirement Day

Today was the day of scientific discovery at our homeschooling house. Tayler and Luke using Apologia's Exploring Creation w/Zoology, were attempting several labs today. One included making a bug box and a jar to keep the bugs they find "soft" by using sand and household cleaners. They had the squirrel incident while out finding bugs, which was quite comical as they are the two squeamish kids. Especially Luke. The bugs are in the baggies awaiting death so they can be examined. It was actually pretty interesting watching the bee through the baggies we could get so close w/no worries.
Natalie also had a couple labs. One was trying out Scientific Method using a flashlight and having me disable the flashlight w/o her knowing and then she having to use the scientific method to try and figure out why the flashlight didn't work. She also did one on gravity. If you homeschool and are looking in the arena of science, we've used Apologia stuff for the past 3 years w/much success and enjoyment. I think that is the key word. This is our first year w/upper level science. The book, General Science, absolutely scares me. I can't imagine learning that book in 7th grade...but....credit to Nattie, she's attempting it! It's a lot, but excellent material!Posted by Picasa

Hey Claire! Yes, the General Science is the same one we are using. Did you do it last year or are you taking two years to do it or are you doing Physical Science?

Love you--Auntie Karen
