I've been tagged by my friend Gretchen to write 3 sentences from page 123 of the nearest book to me. Oh, what fun and it involves reading!!!!! Well, it so happens that Team of Rivals, is the closest thing to me...that and a Highlights magazine that came in the mail today for the kids. I opt for Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, as this book has taken me through every emotion possible. It has moved me in a way no other.secular book has done to date.
Page 123---was 374 pages ago.....but here goes. (The book is 754 pages)
Context...discussion of the Wilmot Proviso.
"Its status became a battleground in the conflict between North and South. The issue of slavery in the territories would become the defining issue in the years that followed. Seward, Chase and Lincoln all favored a ban on slavery from entering the territories acquired from Mexico."
I can't think of a better book to recommend to ALL and EVERYONE and how apt that I am able to write this today, February 12th, on Lincoln's Birthday.
I tag my cousin Lisa, Donette and niece Claire.
